VOLTA NOVEMBER 2022 features Shane Rence (aka Jackson One), Madina Arii and Nathan Shepherdson. Volta will be held in-person in the Tiered Theatrette at the Brisbane Square Library.

Shane Jackson Rence. The Man, The Myth, The Legend emerges from the shadows for his return. Poet, Rapper, Musician ready to showcase some of Brisbane’s best non-verbal poetry and writing.
Madina Arii is an 18-year-old Brisbane poet and winner of Queensland Poetry’s 2021 SlammED competition. Since then, she has been on the Borderless panel, performed at the Queensland Poetry Festival, and has commenced a degree in Communications at QUT. Through writing and performing, Madina aims to explore the complexities of her identity. While still new to the art, she is excited to learn and grow as an artist.
Nathan Shepherdson is the author of 7 books of poetry. Two titles appeared in 2021 – how to spear sleep (Shearsman) and Pfft.. (king of nails press). He’s been fortunate to be involved in a number of collaborative projects with artists and writers over the years, most recently with Pascalle Burton, Arryn Snowball, Sandra Selig and Jonathan McBurnie.
