VOLTA FEBRUARY 2023 features Olivia De Zilva, Bethany Stapleton and Philip Neilsen. Volta will be held in-person in the Tiered Theatrette at the Brisbane Square Library.

Olivia De Zilva is an award winning writer based in Meanjin. She is currently studying a Masters of Philosophy specialising in Creative Writing at the University of Queensland. Her work has appeared in Westerly, SBS, Liminal, among others.

Bethany Stapleton is a speech pathologist who has had a long love of all things to do with words including; ink, paper, calligraphy and poetry. She enjoys being in nature whether that is in her garden or running the trails on Mount Coot-tha. She was the winner of the inaugural Calanthe Collective Poetry Prize 2022.

Philip Neilsen is a Brisbane poet, author and editor. He teaches poetry writing at the University of Queensland. His sixth collection of poetry, Wildlife of Berlin was shortlisted for the 2019 Kenneth Slessor Prize in the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. His awards include an Australian Notable Book Award for a young adult novel, and the Philip Bacon Ekphrasis Prize. He founded the creative writing program at QUT.
